The story behind this is that I was applying for some freelance work, illustrating a calender for a medical company. They didn't want to pay the artist who usually draws their calender as much as he was asking. So I drew their character and showed it to them along with some of my other work. It was looking promising, they wanted to make sure that I could draw their character in an environment so they asked me to draw this and I did. However they decided today that signing a contract with a new artist was too much hassle and just paid their usual artist what he was asking.
I didn't have any sort of contract with this company and I really don't trust them to understand copyright, so I'm making sure I have documentation that I had this image before they did in case they do something stupid.
Durp! Maybe I should try looking for commissions in the furry community. I mean drawing people with dog faces can't be that hard and I'm not having much luck with this website/freelance thing. :L
I get the most success from the Furaffinity forums, but I get the most recognition from the site itself. However, it's taken about a year for me to get noticed on the site :/

Violet, why did you even bother with these people? If those douchebags didn't want to pay their first artist for his work, what made you think they were going to pay you?! And what made you think you didn't need to get a contract or at least SOME kind of written agreement before you started all this work?! Forgive me for sounding like I'm attacking you, but I'm not. I just hate that this happened to you, and I don't want you to fall for this kind of atrocity again.

Their first artist upped his prices more than they wanted to pay. They're corporate and very indecisive. I'd be more upset if I had other pressing things to do and this only took a couple of days.
Apparently they just decided that it was easier to pay their first artist better than it was to get a new contract. Also since I didn't sign anything they cannot legally use this picture.
