Yeah, I get the Inu-Yasha thing a lot on this piece. I've seen maybe half an episode of it ever. All I really know about it is the title character is a dog-man who looks like a cat-man and he has an emo brother who wears a giant fur boa/stole/thing that would put the fanciest drag queen to shame. XD
This is sort of lovely and disgusting at the same time, which is a hard combo to pull off. Kudos.
Maybe it's the pinkish tones or the rib-like things in the background, but this picture makes be think it's located on the inside of some other (large) creature, and that she's some kind of parasite or symbiote. It would also make a little more sense of her inside-out appearance. But that's just my theory.
In Israel there's a phrase from a tv show that everyone says, and I just did, out loud, when I saw this picture. You say it in a very surprising tone of the voice and it goes "to-OV!". It means something like "freaking brilliant".
I love the new take on a mermaid, it is interesting and simply amazing. The details most would scan over each play a part. The red and pink tones and hues create an eerie sensation with the mermaid, it works for her. This is one of the best mermaids I've seen on Deviant
XD Actually the title was sort of a joke but people took it literally so I just went with it. She's kinda like a length of intestine wrapped in a snake skeleton. The ribs actually do work like really crappy joint-less centipede legs. c:
